Are Innocent Russian Lives Less Important Than French Or German Ones?
After the recent French and German Islamist terrorist attacks, both the Brandenburg Gate and the Eiffel Tower were quickly illuminated by the respected colours of the victims, so far, though I have heard the usual condolences, I have seen no such display of solidarity for those victims in St Petersburg.

Are Innocent Russian Lives Less Important Than French Or German Ones? Yes, in the eyes of the Europeans, they are, as still the Russians are regarded as the enemy and who respects the dead of the enemy in such a empathetic way? The gas attack in Tokyo underground. ...reported but no mass worldwide brotherly sympathy.... ....remember the "Hunt for Red...

// I was told by another ABer that the BBC are often behind other media outlets because they like to get the facts right. //
another ABer - well that must be true then
and if trump said it - deffo double true
erm just in passing in terms of late news -
Pravda or Novy Mir ( these are names so i think the use of foreign languages looked on so often as inappropriate in these columns is in fact appropriate here as a Special Case) were the only papers to have their daily headlines set up TWO days in advance. Those were in the days when newspapers went to bed at 10 30 the previous night so headlines in London would be one day in advance
(Yeah no wonder there is a Russian song - those were the days my fren')
ter daaah - and that must have been because the Russians were anxious to get their news right ! ( you know like the BBC does)
so let me get this right on this thread
when the Brand and Eiffel tower were illuminated for victims
the Kremlin wasnt bathed in light
and now there have been bombs in St Petersburg and
the Kremlin remains unilluminated in memory of their own Russian victims - and Paris and Berlin are in the dark
and so the conclusion is - there is something wrong in Paris and Berlin
or have I not followed the thread of the argument ?
Yeah - go for it ! Normal day on AB
now where is the daily racist thread ? .....

Sqad whyever do you think that people from Russia look 'Mongolian'? They simply don't, they look Russian / East European / Slavic which is nothing like Mongolian and on social media at least there is plenty of sympathy with the victims of the attacks in Russia, I think it depends where you are looking, but everyday normal people who get their news other than from the tabloids are certainly condemning and showing solidarity.Politically you can probably see why they aren't going to emblazon a whacking great Russian flag on the Brandenburg gate ( although imho they should) but normal people are treating this as another acute attack upon other human's safety as they did for France etc.

In 1995, Dr. Marta Mirazon Lahr of the Department of Biological Anthropology at Cambridge University used the term Mongoloid to refer to Asian populations, Indigenous Australians, Pacific Islanders, Negritos, and Amerindians, classifying Northeast Asians as typical Mongoloids and all other Mongoloid groups as atypical Mongoloids.
I thought that Russia was an Asian country and hence would be applicable to Russians, but, I am willing to bow down to greater knowledge.

Well technically 77% of Russia as a landmass is indeed in Asia but Russia is generally considered to be a European country in terms of ethnicity and looks, in fact you'd be hard pressed to tell the average Russian girl ethnically from me if we were standing side by side. I was just really surprised to hear that term applied to Russians since I've never met a single one who looks anything but European.

Russia covers a vast area and also bordering on Mongolia and China, so it isn't unusual for a minority of Russians to look Mongolian.
