Even Saint Tony and Bottler admit they were wrong. If you have a diesel car now is the time to flog it.

Just seen this at the top of the page on the Cert :::::

Version EURO6 W 5DEABV

So I am guessing that it isn't a Cat. 7 or 8.
My jam jars hold fruit based jams.
I've never put diesel in them.
Is this a pommy thing?
Re scrappage; increasing tax and other demands don't cause one to give up the target item unless it is ridiculously high. It simply steals more from those victimised by authority. (Since the tax increases/additions aren't fairly applied across the board it warrants the description stealing even if the legal profession would probably claim otherwise. Someone with a gun on the street mugs you are it's a crime; someone in government does it with a stroke of the pen and it's supposed to be ok: well it isn't.) Meanwhile it is immoral to scrap something that is still working fine. It's that sort of "throw away society" we need to curtail.
It's another thing the Government has back tracked on Oz, one min diesels are ok for the environment, now they are not and the British Public except it without batting an eye.

///Version EURO6///

You only bought it a couple of weeks ago, didn't you?

You was done Mikey.
Sorry the current diesel emission standard is Euro 6, Euro 7 is still to be fully implemented and Euro 8 is in the planning stage
All diesel engines sold since September 2015 have to comply with Euro 6

"It's another thing the Government has back tracked on Oz, one min diesels are ok for the environment, now they are not and the British Public except it without batting an eye." - this is throughout Europe, TWR and I think all this moaning means an eye is being batted, not least of which on here.
I hate to say "I told you so" - but TTT and I have been banging on about dirty diesels for many, many years now. If you've bought one in the last three or four years then you must have had your eyes/ears closed to the potential for legislative changes.

Whatever the Euro standard it will never be good enough - engines get old, people get lazy about servicing, cars are not driven hard enough to clean the filters etc etc - we just need to get the things off the road to save lives.
^^ Again it is only pre Euro6 engines and the equivalent outside Europe that are to be banned or charged.
Nearer home Cambridge only 12 miles from me, is due to introduce an even tougher ban/charge than London. But even in Cambridge Euro 6 vehicles will not be affected.

They may start off squeaky clean eddie but a couple of years down the line when all the gizmos that make them clean are neglected and failing they'll be pumping the gunge out like the rest.
Sunny Dave , you do not have to 'clean the particulate filters' on a Euro6 engine it is done automatically. If the filter is full the car automatically goes into the 'filter cleaning' cycle you can't do anything about it, you just have to drive normally until the car tells you the cleaning cycle is complete.
TTT the Euro6 auto clean cycle lasts the entire life of the engine not just a year or two, you can't get out of it or cancel it.
It may be automatic, eddie, but it won't get done whilst the user is pottering around in a city in heavy traffic - it needs a 'good run' at a 'good speed' and many (most?) city-bound motorists just can't do that without making a special effort - so they don't ...
Thanks Eddie ( 09:55 )...very helpful. What a pity others on here aren't as helpful on this topic though.
Not in the latest cars Dave, just normal driving with the engine up to full temperature will do, I have one remember!
My previous Zafira B did need to keep the rpm over 2000 to clean the filter, the new Zafira Tourer does not, just pottering around the town will do it. My 'filter clean' cycle came on last Friday it stayed on for 1/2 an hour of around town driving and then went off.
I checked the manual carefully as I was expecting to have to keep the revs over 2,000 as on the previous car, but there is no mention of the need for a minimum rpm now. It says to 'just keep driving until the cycle is complete'.
