it depends on whether you wanna sell Nivea to those other than anglos I suppose

Pepsi has swallowed ( yes pun intended ) the criticism over their ad where a white girl gives a pepsi to a policeman - also white -
and defuses a racial situation
(in the ad the non-whites [or should that be nie-blankes) cheer as she does so - even I would cringe if I saw a rush of that)

but we must be fair minded
didnt Philip Doo-dah walk over westminster bridge the very next day to show solidarity with those injured the day before ?
the crowds jeered but I say - good on you Phil!
Oh bloody 'ell. White has always been seen as the colour of purity, as in brides back in the day wearing white dresses! I am NOT white I am a pinky colour and a more tanned colour in the summer. Sick of all this silliness .....
More utter idiocy by those determined to find offence and from those feeling their brand name can't afford not to pander to it. Black hearted individuals, the lot if 'em.
OF !
More ridiculousness
Because a few in the Middle East dislike a commercial and the perceived message it sends out to them does not alter how all of us can in future view a colour or shade.

So can white still be used to describe purity? Yes.
Question Author
I seem to remember a film called 'White Men Can't Jump', can never remember anyone getting offended over that.
The racist word is being misused more and more these days!
white dresses for brides only dates back to Queen Victoria so not that far.....
More nonsense.
sometimes you wonder who moans about such things, are they indeed black people, or those who show righteous indignation are white liberals who have nothing else to do with their lives than nitpick.
The eternally precious, emmie.
I would eat my left foot if any black person (other colours are available) was offended by this.

In my book this comes under the heading of Complete Arsewater.

Scott Bellows Tweets "This is so racist I do not even know where to begin". A good beginning point for him would be to understand what the word racist means.
as woofgang says, white wedding dresses are comparatively recent. And they didn't symbolise purity, they symbolised wealth: fancy white dresses were impossible to clean so they showed you could afford a dress that you'd only wear once.

So Nivea are talking rubbish.
Yet another vacuous argument !
I didn't know that about white dresses, jno. Interesting.
My OH and I used to joke that if we got married I'd have to wear a yellow dress, not white. :)

As to the OP, what a load of nonsense. At worst, the ad's tagline was meaningless. It's meant to convince people that the deodorant can't be detected on black or white clothing, but I can't see why the advertisers chose that phrase.

Bladder problems ?
Can White No Longer Be Used To Describe Purity?

Yes it can.

Re: 'White Men Can't Jump'.

Watch the film, then you'll understand the title.
Blimey, I started something with my white wedding dresses, didn't I ??
Oh, it was you who started that was it?

They don't have show up grass stains.
