Is There Some Inconsistency Here?
Today, Mrs Merkel, searched for and got support for the proposal at the EU27 meeting, that all 27 should stand together to ensure the British did not get a 'soft' Brexit.
Why did she not ask for the their - plus the UK's - support for her policy of European mass immigration?

She seems, presently, on course for two years of failing to agree on our exit, refusing to even start to negotiate trade agreements, and finding she's forced her country and the rest of the EU to trade with Britain using the basic WTO rules. Well unless she's replaced at an election sometime during the duration.
Khandro , She has achieved something previously thought impossible!
A unanimous decision from all 27 members in just 4 minutes! The discussion had been expected to last many days and be highly contentious!
Immigration is NOT EVEN on the agenda, this is SOLELY about setting the terms of the UK exit. All other problems have been set aside until that is settled.

I posted this last night after watching her strutting her stuff and looking ferociously bold and determined - unlike I've ever seen her before, and it made me think that this is perhaps the real person who usually presents herself as a conciliatory benign leader, but this carapace masking a hard as nails inner self, honed by her early political life in the former communist DDR. There are some interesting facts here;

EDDIE; Some peoples needs within the EU are apparently more the others; 'president of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker is set to earn a £8,700 pay rise – putting his salary at almost double that of the Prime Minister.
The EU plans to rewards its 55,000 civil servants with a 3.3 per cent salary increase,
The pay rise will be backdated six months to July – meaning staff will get a bonus in Decemeber.
Mr Juncker’s Christmas bonus will be €5,181.24 (£4,396) – while his basic salary will rise by €10,362 (£8,793), taking it to a stratospheric €324,377 (£275,275).
By comparison, Theresa May’s salary is £143,462
On top of his generous salary, Mr Juncker – who has been slammed in the wake of Brexit and Europe’s migrant crisis – is entitled to £41, 292 housing allowance and £14,441 in other expenses.'

“Its her job to ensure that the EU gets the best deal it can.”
Strangely I thought that was the job of the European Commission. I though Frau Merkel’s job was to look after Germany’s interests. Ah! I know what I’ve missed! The interests of the EU and those of Germany are one and the same.
In fact, if Mrs Merkel does succeed in denying the UK a so-called “soft” Brexit (aka no proper Brexit at all) she will go up considerably in my estimation.

Well it will put to bed all the people demanding ever softer Brexit terms.
OK Remainers/Remoaners/Europhiles whatever name you prefer, you heard it from the other side, NO SOFT BREXIT.
Now then, let's start working out what we do, how we get it and who we get it from.
It makes the process so much easier.
Decide the exit terms. Make trade deals with other nations, work out what we keep or discard from EU legislation etc. Leave.
Once we have left, if the EU doesn't like the WTO terms they talk to us about a trade deal.

Cassa is absolutely correct i.m.o.. Give our terms and argue them, don't play by the EU's book, whatever we do. I wish I could do links, but, if you can, please read the lengthy article by Varousakis in the Sat. Telegraph. He is very clear on the need to avoid 'negotiation' with the EU. EU seems to be very like France, procedure-wise and,
having had some experience, I heartily concur. They will digress, try to tie you up - far better to be clear about your position and stick to it. Under their rules, we will lose - we must make it our rules.
What the EU did to Greece is little short of evil, reading the detail. Do not give them any leverage whatsoever is my decided opinion - and I hope Mrs. May and the mandarins agree.
