Should We Be Grateful To Such Newspapers As The Daily Mail?

Is it advantageous for national newspapers such as the Daily Mail to report on various stories which for some strange reason other papers fail to report on?

Saying that you read 'the news bits' and ignore the sexual exploitation of women is a cop-out.
If you contribute to the viewing figures, which you do, then you contribute to the continued appalling denigrating sexist leering prurient attitude of the website, and that is something I would avoid at all costs. If I couldn't read the Mail in print, I would not dream of reading it online - it is an appalling abuse of space.

I have no idea what a "closeted Muslim" is but if you mean am I a secret Muslim, then no, of course I am not...... a damned silly question in you ask me.
I will tell what the DM would have done if Stephen Lawrence had been a Muslim immigrant....they would have reported his death and then found some way of pointing out the importance of him being both Muslim and an immigrant.
And the day after he was murdered, you would have posted a new thread, starting with something like this.....
"perhaps this boy should have stayed where he came from, and then he wouldn't have been stabbed by white English racists"

Mikey - I think you are being harsh here.
It is the nature of the News section that we regulars regularly and robustly challenge views we read - and amen to that.
But I think it is unreasonable to second-guess something which you think AOG may say, and then criticise him for it - that's not in the spirit of debate in my view.

sp - I think it's a shame if you step out of an interesting debate - especially before AOG has come back with any responses.
I am never minded to act on the basis of something that may happen - that's like banning Christmas because it may offend Muslims.
If AOG feels bullied by me, he is unlikely to say so because he won't answer me directly, but I would still address his observations, and I believe that you and Mikey should do the same.
If bullying really takes place, there are Moderators and the Ed to deal with it - but let's not make assumptions on something that is highly unlikely to actually take place - that approach is the death of robust debate.

Andy....I did address his thread, at 07:22 this morning. The DM is the preferred organ for a certain Tory voter. Someone that would find the Telegraph a bit too difficult perhaps, but can't bring quite bring themselves to walk into a newsagents and buy the Express.
AOGs point is that it performs some kind of public service, something I most strongly disagree with. It just reinforces certain peoples obtuse view of Britain today....its there to reassure, not inform.

mikey i read and did the crosswords of the Telegraph for years and only switched to the mail when the Telegraph became too unwieldy. The Mail doesn't just appeal to the average Tory voter, and they don't always like and report on the tories as been proved last election, where Cameron was coming in for a lot of criticism

/// I will tell what the DM would have done if Stephen Lawrence had been a Muslim immigrant....they would have reported his death and then found some way of pointing out the importance of him being both Muslim and an immigrant. ///
And didn't they also point out that Stephen Lawrence was an innocent black boy, with a tremendous future ahead of him?

Complete baloney, all a fabrication of your own Pro-Muslim twisted mind, along with your insistent compulsory obligation to play the race card at any opportunity whatsoever.

I think that accusing Mikey of being 'pro-Muslim' is unjustified.
Because he, as I, is keen to challenge some of the blatant bias against the majority of peaceful Muslims in the world, that does not make him 'pro-Muslim', it makes him anti-bias, which is not the same thing.

A certain ABers has made it clear that you are both keen to challenge some of the blatant bias against the majority of peaceful Muslims in the world.
I have read your post through again, but cannot find any reference to the Daily Mail reporting blatant bias against the majority of peaceful Muslims in the world.
So lets just copy and paste what you actually said again:
/// I will tell what the DM would have done if Stephen Lawrence had been a Muslim immigrant....they would have reported his death and then found some way of pointing out the importance of him being both Muslim and an immigrant. ///
Yes I was right, nothing about blatant bias towards peaceful Muslims, just another figment of your pro-Muslim imagination.

I offered my opinion on what I believe mikey's consistent view on the attacks on Islam that occur on here on a daily basis.
It is just that - my opinion, not to be confused with a statement of fact that you can use to attack mikey with - that is unreasonable.
And would it really kill you to refer to me by name? Using terms like 'A certain AB'er' is archaic, and take longer to type!!!

Naomi - //andy-hughes, //And would it really kill you to refer to me by name? Using terms like 'A certain AB'er' is archaic, and take longer to type!!! //
Shouldn't worry about it. Mikey uses terms like that when referring to me. Funny old world. ;o) //
It certainly is!
I don't worry about it as such, I just think it is unnecessary and it reminds me, if not everyone else, that AOG is still cross with me and refuses to debate with me directly.
His choice of course, but making me a 'non-person' makes him look snippy and childish - but as I say, his choice, and as you say, it's a funny old world.
