/// Claiming that the star was ignoring the struggles facing black communities, one critic told her: ‘You take what you like from us but don’t get the pain that went with it.’ ///
/// ‘Let me guess,’ another wrote. ‘You only did that because you were in Jamaica?’ Another user claimed corn rows should only be worn by black people, telling the star: ‘You ain’t black lol.’ ///
Does this type of attitude encourage racial harmony?

I wouldn't give this nonsense OP room AOG - it only encourages people to think there is anything remotely useful to be gained by even thinking about such vacuous nonsense.

YMB - Everyone is entitled to a view.
What they are not entitled to do is to abuse a complete stranger because they believe she has offended their perceptions of 'cultural appropriation' - heaven knows the very expression reeks of self-important political correctness.
If this young woman chooses to wear a specific hair style, it should not make her fair game for a load of spiteful right-on spite-mongers to call her names from her to Sunday.
Everyone has a right to an opinion, but in the age-old tradition of not falsely shouting Fire! in a crowded theatre - there is a sense of responsibility involved in where and how it is expressed.

Talbot - //How come the D Mail haven't shown us the actual tweets from these trolls? //
Maybe even the Mail thinks that perpetuating such spiteful pointless guff is jumping the shark - even by their standards.
Or maybe they are deliberately making a mountain out of a molehill.
I'm sure they would normally show us a screenshot of the trolls tweets.

Naomi - //Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery - so 'they' say. People who complain about 'cultural appropriation' need to get over themselves. //
People who complain about 'cultural appropriation' should be aware as soon as the words come out of their mouth just how utterly pompous, shallow, incomprensible and generally fatuous they sound putting forward this notion as a mature point of view.

Naomi - //andy-hughes, I agree, but that contradicts what you said at 09.58.
//I think when a white woman gets her hair braided, that's 'cultural appropriation'. //
Sorry - I wasn't clear - I was referring to the notion of 'cultural appropriation' - but not inferring that I think it is a valid notion - lord knows I laugh even when I am typing it, and I probably would if I ever had to quote it out loud.

Talbot - // Apparently most of the abuse happened on instagram (which I don't do) but looking at the comments it is wall to wall support for Alice Eve and her hairstyle. //
It is - as been stated on here numerous times - the downside of social media - it's open to everyone, even those without a single meaningful thought in their heads - and this sort of nonsense is the result.
