I was the person who saw this article and asked the original question in Body and Soul this morning hoping to get Sqad's opinion which I always do respect due to his long career as a consultant.
I almost wish I hadn't bothered to ask - why does a simple question cause others to be so nit - picky and unfriendly?
I only wanted to know as heart disease runs in my family ..... I don't take Ibuprofen very often (just for my knees when they are playing up) but naturally I wanted to know if I'm taking a risk by taking them. Thanks Sqad and Sunny D for your informative answers.

I am pleased Ann that you have got satisfactory answers, However, similar to pastafreak..."I'm not sure the removed answers warranted being removed". Perhaps we have a new Moderator on Night Duty.
I am now off to bed and shall drop off to sleep wondering if perhaps the time has come for me to do a ChuckFickens on AB.....He still looks-in but doesn't post. A great pity because he was in the topmost rank of AB Techies.

/// Agree there - Paracetamol is the first I turn to followed if needs be by stepping up to CoCodamol. ///
Interesting you brought up CoCodamol Mam as I have been prescribed the same for my arthritic knees, but the Doctor told me to only take them at night, for all other times he prescribed Codamol. Any idea why this might be?
A side effect of these two types of tablet is that they tend to make one constipated, would it be safe to take Ibuprofen seeing that Paracetamol does not have any effect?

Best to check with your GP re why only recommended at night, I am allowed them at regular intervals but try to limit them.
Re the constipation, I turn to Senokot to take alongside though others prefer different laxatives.
I think you just learn what is right for yourself and aim for a level of some comfort.

My thanks to all who responded in this thread. However, I remain mystified that twelve answers were removed.
Is it the case that we have some new Moderators who are insufficiently experienced to know that most ABers are intelligent enough to disagree with each other and, quarrel without seriously 'falling-out' with each other.
Accordingly, I regard this thread as still open for further comments.

The timing of some of the deletions suggests that it was an experienced Ab_Ed who removed the offending posts and suspended at least one of the perpetrators - I think any 'new mods' will be treading terribly carefully until they get the hang of things.
It's a genuine shame that this thread got sullied with petty squabbles and insults when some useful and informative points were being made here and on its predecessor thread (
