Just be very bright.

What utter nonsense, and would you want a druggie operating on you? nd is a hosital the best place for someone who takes drugs?

She should be jailed for the stabbing, prosecuted for drugs and not allowed anywhere near medical registration

She doesn't sound as if she is stable enough to do that type of job....she needs to get some serious help of a psychological nature. I do not see why she should be treated any differently from anyone else who stabs someone.
A person's position in life should not entitle one to a 'get out of jail free' card.
still goes to the GMC if there is a conviction

I cant work out if she is a student or junior doctor ( nice photie tho')
there was a move to prevent students ever following a medical course if the GMC didnt like them - but I am not sure if this theme of future control and lack of redemption is policy now ....
well taking mind altering drugs and stabbing people is not generally considered the activities of intelligent people. Another breathtaking misjudgement by an out of touch judge.

erm what about a oxbridge grad and your fave bugga-boo - to wit a non English speaking ethiopian refugee begging on the streets of London ?

surely one would not be remanded and the other you would demand was instantly deported with their hands cut off....

or am I being too lenient ?
Why would you remove the hands of an oxbridge grad ? I suppose it would stop them stabbing folk in the future.

Wait while I fetch an interpreter because I don't know what the heck you are going on about.
It has nothing to do with her talent. If you read the link the judge is convinced the stabbing was a 'one off' which happened in the middle of a 'drunken argument'. This has been a successful argument against a custodial sentence in many cases.
In any case the judge has only deferred sentencing to give her a chance to show it really was a 'one off'. She has not avoided jail yet!
Men...how much experience of domestic violence have you witnessed?

Yeah, right oh Eddie!
Judge Ian Pringle QC, sitting at Oxford crown court, said he would take an “exceptional” course and defer sentence for four months, hinting that Woodward will not be jailed because of her talent

She could be suffering from PTSD from a previous episode of domstic violence.
Does she deserve to go to jail for that?
What talent? An aspiring heart surgeon at the age of 24, it is like a child who wants to be an an astronaut.
She clearly is academically gifted, but one needs more than that to become surgeon and one attribute is to be calm under pressure and try to control one's temper.
She should be treated as anybody who has broken the law in whatever category.
The 'one off, heat of the moment' argument is a valid reason for not jailing someone, it has been used successfully many times. In this case there is the additional argument that a jail term would also destroy her chance of a career as a doctor! The judge thinks she deserves a second chance, the deferred sentencing will either prove him right or not. Personally I agree that she deserves a second chance as the assault was out of character.
An excellent blog from the Secret Barrister arguing that the judge is merely following the Sentencing Guidelines...

"Well-educated" -- please... she went to Oxford, for goodness' sake.
ummmm

*** Men assaulted by their partners are often ignored by police, see their attacker go free and have far fewer refuges to flee to than women, says a study by the men's rights campaign group Parity. ***

AOG you have not answered Ummm's question at all!

So if you stab someone in a drug and alcohol fueled rage, but claim it is a one off you will never go to jail then Eddie?

No wonder there is a knife crime epidemic.
not nearly enough information in that story to form an opinion on. Perhaps TTT might consider the possibility that it is he, who knows next to nothing about it, who is out of touch, rather than the judge who actually heard the case?
