Surely it is places like shopping centres and football grounds, places with high volumes of people they will target? Buck house is already well gaurded as it the houses of parliament.

YMB....please don't get me wrong....I appreciate that the Troops are there to protect us all. Even in my little Welsh backwater, I feel less safe than I did a couple of days ago.
I spent a wonderful day yesterday, visiting Tewkesbury and its Abbey, and we had a pub lunch, and most people seem to be talking about Manchester.

*I am not* making light of the situation, but 9,000 troops will be deployed in what I heard on the news last night as "Operation Tempura" & as I struggled to think of a valid reason for the name, I neglected to actually look it up. Mea culpa.
It is of course "Operation Temperer" & is a sad state of affairs to be in but necessary, obviously. The "elite" places mentioned are undoubtedly at the top of the terrorists' "hit list" but they'll be aware of the difficulty - even under "normal" security - of getting close, so they choose more vulnerable people to attack - "ordinary" lives shattered strikes home more immediately with everyone, I think.
I'm sure that uncountable numbers of people will feel safer because of the presence of troops right across the country.

Whilst the sight of these heavily armed Troops will make a lot of people feel safer in reality I'm not sure of the practicality of it.
Terrorists don't wear a uniform or have a placard stating their intentions so don't stand out from the crowd, and as regarding armed Troops as a deterrent, remember the terrorists are suicide bombers they want to die that is their intention.
