I'm with Danny, moderation essential in most things.

Not a rule I follow rigidly but one I recommend.

thanks didn't see that post
Understandable, a topic that could fit anywhere really.
I tend to believe that your body will tell you what it needs. It also depends on your diet...if you eat unprocessed foods you will probably need/want more salt than if you eat takeaways or crisps a lot.
The word 'salary' is derived from the Latin for salt allowance. Even in ancient times its importance for health was recognised.

pastafreak, good pont processed food, i htink we all have some of that now and again, less is more, i prefer proper cooked dinners myself.

and i remember my old mum would get bones from the butcher and make a bloody good soup with lentils, for next to nothing with lovely fresh bread...mmm
My mum always cooked from scratch. Meals,cakes,bread...
So I learned from her, though I did go through a lazy junk food phase when young, and an all-you-can-eat carb phase.
I eat what I want when I want but salt is only used on tomatoes.
Question Author
my other half does the cooking, both from same generation old school i guess, but yea we all eat junk food on ocassion, is a curry takeaway junk food?
blimey I thought SOMEONE would spot this is MSG intoxication

MSG doesnt taste of anything but is a flavour enhancer
and the evanescent chinee flavours taste more er chinese if you add a dash of MSG
and early in the eveing when the food is cooked to later eating but the flavour is even more evanescent they add a lot

someone must have died of it somewhere sometime but it is no big deal ( unless you are the one with the diarrhoea)

used to be called Kwok's Quease but that is around fifty y ago

Peter Pedant, guilty hands down
I quite like a bit of food with my salt every now and again....
So do I, shoota.
I have noticed my heart rate go up when I've eaten cod roe, which I assume is very salty.
If you eat a lot of processed food you're likely to get more salt than needed. And if you eat a diet of unprocessed food, you may need additional salt. People who switch to such a diet often feel poorly as they adjust their salt intake.
