The DM headline uses the words 'causes'. If you weren't nicking off school to buy some woodbines when that particular English lesson was occurring you'll be aware that they used the present tense, leading the average DM reader to assume that it was happening now. Corbyn wasn't elected until 2015 so how it can be inferred that she was one of his activists is quite strange.
