The Conservative Party's former chief strategist, Steve Hilton, has called on Theresa May to resign over cuts to police and security services.

This also comes at a time when a former chief inspector for the Met and by the former head of special branch in Belfast have both slammed May's cuts to the services as damaging Britain's security:

I mean, obviously she isn't going to resign. But do you think it's fair to hold May to task for this failure?

So the fact that all perpetrators of the three recent terror attacks were known to the police beforehand after being reported by their peers does not suggest to you that there may be a problem?

In terms of policing cuts, yes and any cuts of that size undoubtedly has a significant impact.

As has been said before though, the cuts would not prevent the types of attacks we are seeing.

I just find it rather surprising that all these people who are experienced security professionals who know a good deal about counter terrorism seem to think this is an important issue, yet May presents herself as credible on security.

I can't defend the reducing of police numbers but I wouldn't call for May to resign or join in any rallying call against the Cons because quite simply I can not get passed the nightmare alternative.
