I wonder if there will be a countrywide minute's silence as there was for the Manchester victims?

I did it at home. I hope it was nationwide.
philip and holly stopped
Maybe MI5 just want some 'clear air' to be able to listen to who continues talking.
It was observed across the UK and some TV channels had messages up in memory of those murdered or injured.

First I knew of it was when I looked at one of the news websites half an hour or so ago and it only mentioned London.
R4 announced the start and end minute. We observed it, I believe it was nationwide.
Nationwide - the cricket stopped at Cardiff - very moving moment for everyone there.

I've clearly missed all the announcements of it - and I watch the news regularly too - and more than ever over the past few days. Strange.
only knew about it as I had telly on
It did state on yesterdays Bbc TV news that it would be Nationwide.
I didnt know about it, was not publicized very well at all.
I was unaware of it also, however my thoughts are with those that have being affected by these atrocities.
Once again, I knew because I had Radio 2 on & observed the silence.

My thoughts too are with everyone affected by the recent attacks.
I did hear it mentioned on two News programmes, so was aware.

Thoughts to everyone concerned.
there was, at least going on the news.
I am not attempting sarcasm or anything of that ilk...but I really don't understand it at all......if I knew those people then I would not have forgotten them in the space of 2 or 3 days and if I didn't know them then I cannot possibly remember them. For those that take part most will not know them and will be unlikely to remembr even their names. It makes no sense to me .... I do keep the minutes silence on 11/11 but spend my time thinking of sacrifices made for me by those that were killed....
Yep...Phillip Schofield stopped an interview to respect the minutes silence.

Mally - I don't understand what you don't understand. I find these attacks highly upsetting. It could have been anyones loved one involved.
I was in Tesco this morning. Just before 11.00 an announcement was made over the Tannoy that a minute's silence would be observed, in the store, at 11.00 to remember the attack victims. At 11.00, a silence descended over the whole supermarket: the checkouts fell silent; nobody wheeled a trolley. It was all very respectful.
ummmm I am not saying anything detrimental...these attacks are awful...as they were when the IRA were setting off bombs...and I lost a friend during one of their attacks...I am sure that many of us did or were otherwise affected by friends and family being injured or worse..but I cannot remember people I did not know. With the best will in the world people can't remember people they didn't know...to hold a silence as a mark of respect...that is what most of us do on 11/11 - but remember people I don't know..which is what we are asked to to is impossible.
I think it's more the added power that joining in unison with others, be it silence.singing or holding hands gives us.

For a brief moment we connect whilst (hopefully) all focussing on the one matter at hand.

There are tomes written on the power of silence from many angles, some fanciful and others very pertinent - to me at least.
