Cant find an online link but just watching Midlands Today news.
Its reporting that a man has been arrested on suspicion of hate crime after posting a vid to Facebook of himself burning a copy of the Koran.
But why don't we hear of muslims getting arrested for burning copies of The Satanic Verses, or burning poppies or burning UK flags?
Arnt these hate crimes too?

Ive had many muslim aquantences over the years and havnt got a bad word to say about any of them, but this one sided policing isn't doing anything to help race relations.

//Shouldn't someone have a word with the police for racial stereotyping?//
Like who?

I once made a complaint against the police for breaking my wrist. Didnt get very far. It was all my fault apparently.
//( conduct likely to cause alarm or distress)//

Dear, dear. "Likely", eh?

All the Weimar Republic hate speech laws and censorship didn't stop Hitler coming to power.
And weren't those laws useful once he'd acquired it?

AH in the Reichstag to somebody miffed by the Nazis'suspension of certain "civil liberties":

"Late you come, but yet you come.".

Another Schiller quote.
How happy the marionettes like PP are jerking their knees and elbows as the puppeteers pull the strings.

Strange, isn't it?

I don't think you can classify PP. He is obviously highly intelligent and well-educated - but with a very individual (and confusing) mode of expression. I rather enjoy trying to follow his posts.

Re: OP. Driving home from school one day I passed a playground in Manningham, Bradford (where I played as a tot). It was frightening. A huge crowd of muslim men in robes shouting around a blazing bonfire onto which they were hurling copies of 'The satanic
verses'. I was held up in the middle of the crowd. I think it was then that I realised the intolerance. No action, legal or otherwise was taken.
PP trivialises murder and sneers at those who don't.

Wearisome affectation. Like Artemus Ward.

have a good night everyone
Believe me, PP is having you all on. I know what he is talking about.
Eddie, //The 'Satanic Verses' are not part of the Quran , they claim they were dictated by the devil ( Satan) not by Allah That is why they burn them. //

A point of order. The Satanic Verses aren't in the Koran at all. Burning copies of the Koran has nothing to do with the Satanic Verses.
Eddie //(As we know the basis for the Quran being sacred is that it was personally dictated to Mohammed by Allah himself!) //

Another point of order. It wasn't dictated to Mohammed by Allah himself - it was dictated to him (allegedly) by the angel Gabriel.
Not Santa clause then?
Course not. Everyone knows he's not real. ;o)
Ah hem. ;-)
Awwww .... sorry to disappoint. ;o)
I believe PP has to take very strong medication as he did say on here many moons ago he was seriously ill. Not making excuses just saying what I remember.
naomi I said the 'Satanic verses ' were not part of Quran.
I agree that Allah dictated them via Gabriel rather than 'one to one' as it were.
What I have never seen an answer to is my question that if on one occasion Satan was able to impersonate Allah and dictate the 'Satanic Verses' how can we be sure it did not happen more than once?
Eddie, //I agree that Allah dictated them via Gabriel rather than 'one to one' as it were.//

Of course you do - because I've just told you that's what is alleged to have happened.

The Satanic Verses bear no comparison to the rest of the Koran. Therefore the rest is not called into question.
^ I know the 'Satanic Verses' do not form part of the Quran!
What I am looking for is a reason why there can not be more similar verses, which were also dictated by 'The devil Satan
sorry hit submit by mistake
Why there can not be more verse's that were also dictated by 'the devil' impersonating Allah.
I have never had any sort of explanation to that, is it possible Satan learnt from his first failure and did it better the next time?
