Dragging everyone in who they suspect and carrying out in-depth investigations as follow ups simply isn't possible. It would also have the potential to inflame the communities in which they live, and create 20,000 more radicals.

The Manchester bomber was reported to the relevent authorities 5 times.
The so called hotline is little more than a PR stunt to give the impression that they are doing something, when in effect it is useless and misleading the public.
Why would anyone bother reporting a suspect in future when it is obvious that the process is broken ?

The Authorities have been asking us to report anything suspicious, and we keep hearing that good intelligence is the best way to deal with these threats.
And yet, in this case and in Manchester, that is exactly what people did....they reported their concerns.
So, perhaps if the Authorises has more resource, like say, 20,000 more police officers, they might be able to deal rather better with these threats than they are doing at present. The Police have said that Police Officers on the ground, picking up what they hear, would help, as they always do, with any crime.
Mrs May has yet to tell us why she presided over a period of wholesale job losses in the Police Forces across the country.
Is it any wonder that so many people rejected Mrs May on Thursday ?

I would put more people on evaluating these tip offs from the public. I would make sure they are properly trained, and enough of them to do the job properly.
The Manchester and London attacks could have been prevented if the tip offs had been heeded.
They will tell us that lessons have been learned, but I doubt anything has changed if that aptly named Dick is anything to go by.

Zacs,
If you are saying the system cannot cope because of the sheer numbers, then more resources have to be put into making it work. Or scrap the line altogether.
For the authorities to get good intelligence given to them, and then there are attacks by people 'in the system', then the system has to be overhauled to work better.
