Have to agree with Naomi's last point, to use this situation in the way some are doing is disgraceful.
2002 and from the Guardian? Get a grip, Mikey!!
I feel sure there are a number of Labourites who have suitable large properties to be 'taken-over' for accommodating homeless folk.

Perhaps mikey is in a position to have a word on the matter with Tony Bliar and ask him about his property portfolio and his sons property renting business. You could also ask the former PM if he is prepared to donate a few of his millions to help folk who are in desperate needs.

There are a lot of allegations being flung around, particularly directed at the Tory party. But the fact is that since these buildings have been around for decades, it reflects badly on both parties really doesn't it? The Tower itself was built in the early 1970s (Tories), but commissioned in the late 60s (Labour), but supervised by a Conservative Council. A Fire Safety report focusing on Tower blocks has apparently been "sat on" for four years (Tories), but probably even longer than that (also Labour), especially since the last fire in 2009 (Labour).

As for who is more "at fault", one way or another that's what the public enquiry is for, and for my part I intend to wait for its conclusions to come out.
I don't see a significant difference between 'compulsory purchase' and 'requisition' the result will be the same!
It's very commendable of Mrs May releasing emergency funds, but if there are no houses to buy what good will it do!
//I don't see a significant difference between 'compulsory purchase' and 'requisition' the result will be the same! //

'Requisition' doesn't equate to purchase.

///I don't see a significant difference between 'compulsory purchase' and 'requisition' the result will be the same! ///

Er, no, the results would be poles apart!
Youngmafbog....I still don't know why you directed that comment at me......why not at a labour supporter or voter?
And "If you don't like it back, don't give it" is very childish....Young.....

Baz asked a question...I answered as did many.....and you tried to jump on something that wasn't there...very silly.....
I think it's time cold fish May was ousted, long overdue.
Ousted, HereIam?.....It's a mystery that she's where she is at all....this country, especially today, needs someone much, much better.......x
I totally agree.
Jordyboy - I didn't say he was handsome but he was very attractive and funny, especially when a few mishaps happened. To be honest I thought he fancied me but I then found out he is like that with everyone
^^ I thought he was gay.

Re May, if she goes some would accuse her of doing so for political gain, and if she doesn't some would say she is heartless. I would think the first the better risk.
I didn't say he did fancy me but I thought he did
She should have gone. You cannot give security as the reason when the Queen has gone. It also shows her general lack of backbone - i.e. being unwilling to face risks or challenges, or accountability from people her government have screwed over.
