I have not opened the link, and I do not read any reports in papers, or watch any news reports about this dreadful incident.
I believe I know as much as is necessary about this incident, and images of what has occurred will not benefit me in any way in terms of understanding what has happened – nor I believe, do they benefit anyone else.
I am constantly reminded of the psychologist on Radio Four talking just after 911, about the contestant re-running of film of the planes hitting the towers. He advised that such constant repeating of such distressing images was really not good for anyone, and served no actual purpose at all.
Ever since then, I have avoided the levels of saturation coverage that tragedies attract with our modern media and its bottomless quest for images and comment – none of which helps anyone at all.
