"The Conservatives promised a free vote on fox hunting in their general election manifesto, and during the campaign Theresa May said she was in favour of bringing it back.
But Mrs May lost her majority in the election and now ministers say will be no vote in this "session".
what a load of rubbish even to have it in the manifesto or on the government/opposition radar screens - if there aren't more important matters to be taken care of.
just indicative of the poor campaign and manifesto, I don't know what the tories were thinking, it beggars belief, this has to go down as the biggest own goal in history. Frankly the pursuit of the inedible by the unspeakable is of no interest to me but why the PM even brought this up is beyond me.
I believe that she brought it up because she was asked. Personally I think that the promised vote is a cross between a hot potato and a sop for Cerberus. A vote would be unwelcome because of the trouble it would cause; similarly to remove it from the manifesto would cause trouble from a different group of people. Its a teeny weeny benefit from Brexit that its given another good excuse to shelve the promised free vote.
trt....If Corbyn hadn't had done so well last month, May would still have a sizeable majority, and I have no doubt that this Bill of Fox Hunting would still be in the Queens Speech.
May didn't help herself of course, but Corbyn deserves some praise. And that is why I have given hereIam BA !
the foxes are safe but the government is a shambles, with ministers abandoning traditional cabinet responsibility and charging around with daggers in their hands frantically backing the policies they opposed last week. I think that can be safely blamed on May, actually.
jno....I think what we are seeing now, is a modern equivalent of the Fall of Rome, in regards to the Tory Party. They are becoming more undisciplined as each day dawns, and the last time that happened, it was under Major.
