Didn't we all used to wear Clarks shoes when we were kids ?

Those brown or maroon sandals that we wore as soon as the weather improved. And those shoes with animal prints on the soles, and the ones with the hidden compass in the heel !

Every lad (almost) will have had a tracker compass shoe.
But this seems a small return. Dessert boots only. And won't forget they left in the first place. Still one small step in the right direction.

I can recall having my feet x-rayed, on a machine inside shoe shops, in the late 50's !

Mikey, I know shops have a contraption for measuring feet, but x-ray equipment? Really? Wouldn’t that need a radiologist?

Good news for the UK , but I'm never going to be able to afford Clarks shoes. I have bought them for my grandchildren ( all 12 of them) , but they cost £38 a pair and they still grow out of them in 6 months.
As an aside can anyone remember those X Ray machines they had in shoe shops? You put your feet in them and looked at the screen so that you could see how well your foot fitted into the shoe and if your toe bones had enough room!

mikey beat me to it , but I clearly remember the X ray machines. I used to ask my mum to take me in and let me look at my toe bones even if we weren't out to buy shoes.

They were finally banned in the early 1970s Ummmm , It would have been the late 1950s when I remember them.
The shop I used to go to is still in the same place in my hometown , still sells Clarks shoes.
