To be fair no one can produce anything of him promising. However, expect this to be raised repeatedly at the next election. The opposition won't want young voters to fall for it again.

He never promised it. He just dropped a hint that it'd be something they'd do, and then did nothing to dispel that impression - until all the votes had been counted of course.

To be fair on him, it's only what ALL politicians do ALL of the time.

I think I know at last what Trump was on about re "fake news". There was a similar long thread over the last couple of days and now this revamp. During both it has been made crystal clear - to all but the incorrigible - that there is not a shred of evidence that any such "promise" was ever made. None, other than what Labour would do once there was a Labour government in place!
I think I, too, might have to take to endless "twittering"!

Perhaps Corbyn should have pulled his MP's to one side instead of letting them tweet such things as

Obviously the MP who tweeted this thought Jeremy was considering 'writing off' historic student debt.

It seems I have to return to the key point I made in my very first response to yesterday's thread; namely, that certain right-wingers seem to have a rather tenuous grasp on what some words in English actually mean!
Are you under the impression that there is no difference between 'could' and 'will'? If you and I had spoken about possibly meeting in a pub this evening and I had said, “I could be there,” would you take that to be a promise?
In addition, do you imagine that "was considering" is no different from "was definitely going to"?
