I am not sure if I support this or not. Whilst its a good idea for Learners to have some experience on Motorways, I can help but be nervous of them wobbling all over the road in front of me.

how do you see them? Whilst overtaking?
I bet you are the old geezer in a cloth cap doing 45 in the left lane causing chaos forcing all the buses and trucks to overtake.
Question Author
TTT...I never wear a cloth cap, but I do sometimes drive at 45mph. If I do, its always in the inside lane, which is safe and legal.

Got it in one T³
legal, not safe, very dangerous forcing trucks into the middle lane to over take you. Most motorway crashes are thus caused. how many accidents have you had?
Never thought I would hear any driver admitting to be a middle lane hogger
I am and proud, all this middle lane pony is well pony, on a full motorway you cannot get to the left anyway on an empty motorway it's the safest place. The highway code is wrong.
Question Author
TTT....drivel. Most Motorway accidents are caused by people driving too fast, too close to the car in front.

What has my accident record got to do with this thread ?

You are the one that that has confessed to driving in a illegal manner. You may not like the law, in fact you have shown on previous occasions that you despise it, but its the same law for everybody, and that includes you.

'St Mikey'
Nothing annoys me more than when driving on an empty motorway, correctly on the left, some opinionated ares0le is cruising down the middle lane, slower than me. Undertaking is dangerous, so swing past them, cut in front and return to correct lane. That is how you deal with mid lane hoggers
45mph on a motorway?

imo only nervous incompetent drivers would do that.
Just come down the M3/M27. 85mph is slow, you are in the minority Mickey and if you drive at 45mph on a motorway the dangerous one.
And for the record, I was not doing 85, my truck uses too much diesel at those speeds.
Question Author
YMB....don't agree. The stopping distance at 85mph would only be safe if there were no others cars on the road at the time. Even at 70mph, its 315 feet.
so you are going faster than 85 mph in then mick? I do 85 in the middle lane if you are going faster than that then you can use the outside lane. Oh BTW you do not have to go long way round, you can pass on the left quite legally as long as it's not a specific manoeuvre. I though you guys knew the HWC? I do, even the wrong bits. Anyway where is this "empty" motorway?
Mikey; "What has my accident record got to do with this thread ? " - well you have been telling me how dangerous I am and how safe you are I thought it might be helpful to quantify that dichotomy, to compare the actual number of accidents we've had respectively, you seem rather coy on that! I've had zero. Your turn.
anyway on an empty motorway it's the safest place.
Question Author
Its you that are saying how you break the law TTT, not me. You volunteered that information and I was commenting on it
Oh BTW you do not have to go long way round, you can pass on the left quite legally as long as it's not a specific manoeuvre

No idea what that means.
United Kingdom - The Highway Code discourages undertaking on motorways with some exceptions (rule 268): "Do not overtake on the left or move to a lane on your left to overtake". Undertaking is permitted in congested conditions when frequent lane changing is not recommended.
85 isn't that fast really, about a week ago I was doing about 115 and had a car fast approaching me from behind flashing its headlights for me to get out of the way.
