Can You Imagine What Would Happen If This Occurred In The Uk?

Quite obvious unfortunately,
1) The burglar would be straight round to the police station to put in a complaint of keeping a dangerous dog indoors meaning they have infringed his 'ooman rights to burgle safely.
2) Then round to pond life r us to file his compo claim
3) Plod then straight round (3 armed cars cuple of bikes and a chopper probably) to arrest the home owners take the dog and put it down.
In my opinion though its a pity this doesn't happen to a few more burglars and low lives invading other peoples property they have worked hard or. Good Boy Oden, keep up the good work.

It's well known that thieving scum get more protection that the home owner in the UK. What part are you refuting? 1) is a distinct likely hood, the dog would no doubt be put down and yes the lowlife thieving scum would hire a blood sucking parasite from WWW chambers to sue the home owner for compo. Maybe a little animated but I'd say the OP is more or less correct.

Amendments to the Dangerous Dogs Act mean it is now an offence for a dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place and on private property.
Though intruders into your home would generally not be covered by the amendments, all the circumstances will have to be considered and each decision will be judged individually. For example if you deliberately set your dog onto the intruder and they then suffer injury, you may be liable for prosecution and the dog ordered to be kept under control.
However, if you are not home and your dog attacks, it is unlikely that you would be liable for the attack. This defence only applies in your home and not other premises or land i.e. if a person (intruder of otherwise) enters your garden and is bitten by your dog, you may be liable.
