As Notting Hill was the equivalent of something over 200 premier league football matches in terms of numbers present , is the number of police injuries more than would be expected at 200 football matches ? I rather suspect it will be a lot less.
On the news there were plenty of photos and videos of police joining in and showing signs of having an enjoyable time.

Surely you are not suggesting that if the NH thrash was banned, then those same injured officers would be injured somewhere else?

My point was that in view of the numbers of people present, well over 3 million over 3 days, 38 police injuries,while far from ideal
( which would be zero) is in proportion to or less than the number of police injuries at other smaller and shorter events.
Some seem to think Notting Hill is a 3 day riot by over 2 million people, which is simply not true .

there where probably 10000 football matches last Saturday across all levels, no reports of any injured rozzers.

Last years Luton International Carnival which models itself on Notting Hill , but is less than 10% as big and only one day, saw 3 jail sentences last year as well as a lot of other arrests.

In proportion it was far worse than Notting Hill , so should that be banned as well!

^ If you actually read what I said , you would see I did not say 'Police Injuries are fine' I said that the number of injuries was in proportion to the number of people at the event. I even said the ideal was zero injuries .
In an ideal world there would be no crime, so no need for police,magistrates, judges or jails, but we all know that there will never be such a world.

This will be a huge comfort to the several wards full of officers who were beaten, glassed, spat on, kicked and punched during this "wonderful celebration of cultural diversity." Attempting to contextualize the injury of police offers by showing comparitive statistics or deflecting the question by referring to other events is, in my opinion, absolutely comptemptible. As you asked the question regarding Luton, it does sound unjustifiable too.

When the 'Carnival' first started, it was standard reporting to show a picture of a copper wearing a funny hat or participating in an event. Now the pics show coppers defending themselves against mindless hooliganism. What went wrong ?
