Nothing Short Of Sexual Assualt
Imagine if a man had done this on the tube, a bus or in a nightclub, he would be before a judge before you could blink.
The police were so scared of upsetting people they didn't dare arrest him for fear of starting a riot.

That's just how I imagined a London bobby would act, grabbing as many random women as he can and rubbing himself against them in a good natured semi-erect kinda way. Makes ya proud.

Garaman - // I agree with O_G, inappropriate behaviour and he should have been spoken to. I feel sorry for the officer who clearly wasn’t enjoying it, didn’t handle it as perhaps she should have done and so won’t be enjoying all this publicity. //
With the benefit of hindsight, a film of the incident to play at leisure and examine in detail, and of course, not actually being involved at the time, we all have our views of the incident and how it was handled.
Maybe the officer would do differently another time, that is for her to know, and us to wonder, but it has happened, and she dealt with it she thought appropriately at the time, and that really is the end of it.

AOG - //Come on don't be so coy, spit it out you are itching to call them racist. //
I am never ever 'coy' and I am not 'itching' to call anyone anything at all.
The ethnicity of the gentleman did not occur to me - please don't assume that I view different races in the way that you do - I assure you I do not.

/// I would suggest that had it gone on any longer, or he had stopped smiling, or he had touched the officer inappropriately, you would have seen a very different outcome. ///
All speculation, and just more assumption, that you are so against. //
Of course it is speculation - the phrase "I would suggest ..." clearly indicates that - we are all speculating, because we were not there.
I am not against speculation and assumption at all - I am only against speculation and assumption that is posted as though it is fact, from people who cannot know anymore than I can, because we were not there.

/// Well no, I am actually quite an expert - but then I have more than a decade more experience on this site than you, so that is only to be expected ///
Yuk! The pomposity of this person, knows no bounds.//
Yesterday you told me to 'lighten up' - today you accuse me of being pompous, do please make up your mind!!

Naomi - // Like Garaman, I too agree with OG at 22:55 Thu. In different circumstances this wouldn’t have been shrugged off and excused – and it shouldn’t be shrugged off and excused now. //
But if it was in 'different circumstances' - it wouldn't be the incident it is - would it? So that assertion is clearly meaningless.
If it had been a dark alley and the man had been holding a knife and the officer was a fifteen-year-old-girl, no-one would be laughing this off - and I am not doing to that at all, to be clear - but it wasn't. It was broad daylight, and she was a police officer. That is what makes the situation what it was.
