I can't believe I have just read that, it is amazing how you are prepared to defend this person, just because see happens to be a fellow female.
/// And the mother, hopefully????????????
Hopefully given her record who would be prepared to take the risk of letting this evil mother take charge of any innocent and defenceless children again?
*** Both parents pleaded guilty to five counts of child cruelty ***
Both equally pleaded guilty!!!!!!
*** The court was told that the father did most of the shooting and kept the gun down the side of the sofa, but his wife would take over if he was not at home. ***
That was so supporting of her towards beloved partner, wasn't it? Never mind the poor children?

"I agree with AoG"
As happens all too often, the woman has been presumed to be 'under the influence of the man' rather than an equally malevolent apology for a human being - and has been punished inadequately (to be polite).
The concept that she should stay out of prison to enable the family to stay together is laughable.

Indeed JtH - I'd seen that - but the previous paragraph says :
"This was the behaviour of people who had developed a system, a regime of discipline, that involved this form of violence"
I note the word 'people' not 'a person' and am surprised that only one of them seemed to merit a custodial sentence - but not *very* surprised given the inbuilt bias of the judicial system against imprisoning women for offences that would automatically see a man in prison.

I have to post my admiration at the restraint you showed in responding to the above post which is as conclusion-jumping as it is inaccurate, as it is offensive.

New Judge - // To be fair, Andy, you jumped to the conclusion earlier in this question that I was being sarcastic. //
That's dodgy, and most unlike you NJ.
There are two posters referenced here - one is known to be shrewd, informed, measured, and it seems, sarcastic, the other is opinionated, judgemental, aggressive, and prone to see things in posts that are simply not there.
I am willing to stand on my assessment - that I judged both correctly, based on their previous records.
