It is frightening to think what could happen on the underground, these days.
// then perhaps you leave off posting on what is a serious topic in the news category Peter?//

well you have a delete button Boo
you can always use it to delete comments which do not conform to your sense of decorum at the time - whether or not it later turns out to be a damp squib

one person burnt by the way
"damp squib" and "one person burnt". That is potentially one person whose life is in tatters. The term "damp squib" is therefore mutally exclusive.

Peter, please do shut up.
Think someone on this post is a little Salvation Army.
There's only you on that post, gulliver.

I glad I don't have to travel on the tube as a daily necessity.
Stop it peter, I've " stuck up " for you in the past, but I know you are capable of posting sensible answers. Some post do not warrant your hilarity.

Is Boo a moderator?
gulliver1 , yes someone is a bit barmy but to use the SA is a bit off, no doubt they will be there giving out tea and sarnies to the emergency service, unlike a certain poster on here.
It would have been a terrifying experience for all those involved. The situation is not something to make light of.
We will be informed within the hour the background information, rather than speculating, just wait ?
scary stuff for sure !
Anyway, moving on.

AOG and Talbot - I know what you mean. Over the last 15 years I have radically adjusted how I travel through London. I used to take the tube. I stopped doing that and used to walk. Now I dont even feel safe doing that and get a cab everywhere.

Two weeks ago I was in London and I witnessed armed police with sniffer dogs stop a van and haul a guy out just outside Kings X. The fear that immediately went through me was palpable.
Barmaid

/// Now I dont even feel safe doing that and get a cab everywhere ///

And according to recent reports, it's not all that safe for a female, to take a cab these days.
AOG........yes she is.
regarding taxis, local taxi firm have a system that if you phone for one from your mobile, they'll send a text giving the customer colour, make, model and reg plate of taxi arriving.
As a mere female, colour and reg plate I can handle, make and model are a different planet.

Do hope the burned person makes a full recovery btw and also hope no more are seriously hurt.

I was thinking more Radio Rental.......
You are probably right, AOG - although I only ever take a black cab I suppose that is no assurance.
One eye witness says it looked like a bucket of mayonnaise.

Perhaps some crude attempt at a napalm-type device?
it's been declared a terrorism incident.

jno jnr seems to have been on the next train, fortunately (for him)
flippin 'eck jno!!
blinking scary for the junior and worrying for you.
