/// Resident Imogen Luke said 'I am hoping whoever put this up simply didn't realise what it can symbolise. ///

/// 'Seeing it flying boldly in our village last night truly made my heart sink and I'm hoping it has now been taken down. ///

/// 'No place or need for it in St Ewe really. I have been quite upset all day just wondering who would do such a thing and why. I believe it's probably a joke but it's just vile.' ///

Oh dear poor little snowflake, I do hope see is feeling much better now.

they'll be banning the dukes of hazard next!
Maybe you could market holidays in Toxteth, Wolverhamton, Enfield or Milton Keynes. Sure that people are much nicer there...

It is still Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force flag (1954–present)

TTT - they already have. Well, not quite. The confederate flag on General Lee's vehicle was only in the first five episodes of Dukes of Hazzard and those episodes are no longer shown, nor is the flag used in official merchandise distributed by Warner Bros
.....good ole boys....never meaning no harm....etc
When I was a child, the Dukes of Hazzard was a hugely popular programme. In the show, the lead characters drove a car called The General Lee, emblazoned with the Confederate flag.

At that time (perhaps because we were kids and didn’t know who General Lee was and what the flag represented), no-one was offended or even mentioned it.

Now though as an adult I know what the Confederates stood for, and the flag has taken on a different connotation.

To answer your question directly, a flag cannot be racist as it is not a sentient being. It is cloth, dye and thread.

However, it’s what (and who) the flag represents.

The IS flag cannot be a terrorist, and a flag depicting a swastika cannot be a fascist - but if you saw one flying from a flagpole outside your local community centre, you would be within your rights to be concerned, would you not agree?
Only in the first five episodes, sp. :)
This woman is an idiot in my opinion, to get so het up over a ruddy flag is ridiculous, does she not have any real problems like most of the rest of us ??
Sp the 70's eh used to love that program, Matt and Luke the way the doors on the car were welded shut, the boars nest, boss hogg, Sheriff Roscoe P coltrane, and of course Barbara Bach as Daisy Duke!
I think some people wake of a morning and think 'I'm going to find something else to be offended by and go running to the media'

TTT, I think a lot of teen girls wanted to be Daisy :-D

There seems to be more concern over the slavery that happened 200 years ago, than the present day slavery that we now see.

Can we see ancient African slavery now put back in our history books, and concentrate of what is taking place now?
It's not racist to fly it anywhere.
I can recall a time when one was reluctant to fly the flag of St. George for much the same excuse. That was nonsense also.
There is a HUGE difference between the St. George and the Confederate flags, OG.
The St. George flag is still the flag of England and other countries.
The Confederate States of America only lasted 4 years and ended in 1865. There is no reason to fly that flag today.
I suspect most people in this country don't have a clue what the history of this flag is. They just see something that looks all starry and cheerful and vaguely "American".
