Labour doesn’t like free speech – but then we knew that. What a shambles they are.

It's not clear that any political party is in anything over than a shambles at the moment. The Tories are apparently circling May like vultures, Labour is struggling to find an identity that isn't either basically the Tories again or a very radical left party, UKIP has no leader or role to speak of, and The Lib Dems are essentially irrelevant for the time being.

I'm not actually trying to do anything in particular, except make the rather obvious point that Labour isn't the only party struggling. I can't say whether or not it's struggling less than the Tories, although perhaps they are just better at keeping their shambolic performances under wraps. I've not exactly kept up with the Labour Conference but what I've seen isn't exactly promising (possibly an understatement).
Still, we aren't exactly spoiled for choice at the moment, are we? And in terms of popular support, Labour seem to be a little healthier than the Tories at the moment (fine margins, though).

Fringe events are not part of the Labour Party Conference, they are side shows that can put on by anyone with enough money to pay for a room in the town when the offical conference takes place.
Labour Party has no power to stop any organisation organising a fringe event.
The meeting in question had no connection to the Labour Party, and was organised by this group.
