The BBC's Laura Kuenssberg has been reported as having to have a bodyguard. Now I dont like the woman but having to have a body guard at a major parties conference?

Seems the Nasty violent Left are starting to show thei true colours.

What I want to know is why the police have not been involved. If this was a 'far' right party plod would be wading in thick and fast.

I agree. Many of them seethe with vitriol and hatred for alot of things, much more so than the equivalent right wingers.

The worst you can say about the Tories I know is that they're ambivalent and uncaring towards the poor, but they don't actively hate them. Contrast this to some Labour supporters who loathe 'the rich' and would happily cart them off to the guillotine given half a chance, along with the Blairite traitors of course. Keunssberg would probably escape the death penalty but be sent to a gulag for ten years for re-education.

I don't know, Ludwig, if we're going to get into making comparisons I'm not sure it's that clear-cut. As I've said before I've had multiple and prolonged interactions Tory party members who took great pleasure in being obnoxious and abusive for the sheer pleasure of it. Plus you'll remember there have been multiple bullying scandals within the Tory party - one of which explicitly drove one of their activists to suicide and got Grant Shapps into major trouble. Then you have instances (one of which happened in my hometown) of Tory members burning money in front of the homeless as an initiation rite.

And I'm also not sure that ambivalencece/indifference is necessarily less dangerous than hatred. That attitude is scarcely less damaging than hatred when it comes to the disabled - who are being actively harmed by recent Tory policy, as was recently declared by the UN.

I was responding to a comparison that another poster was making, yeah.

I'm a bit confused by this implicit suggestion that I'm some dyed-in-the-wool Red fanatic. I joined the party briefly last year because I wanted to vote in the leadership election (but then wasn't allowed, and I let my membership expire). I didn't vote for them in the election, and I've never voted for them in any of the general elections I've been eligible to vote in.

I can believe it. Party members of any type aren't to be trusted in my opinion. I was talking more about supporters - ie people who habitually vote one way or another, without being weird enough to actually sign up to the club. I personally hear far more bile and nastiness from my left leaning aquaintances than those on the right. They think it's ok though, because obviously they only hate the people that's it's ok to hate.

True, it's really about numbers as well as attitude; to be anti-monarchy is wishing to remove a handful of people who are the figurehead and standard bearers of a nation - and of whom many people around the world seem to be envious of.
To be anti-Semitic is to wish to remove, as Hamas and the world's Islamists do, 15 million people from the face of the earth.

As much as I dislike the current Labour party and it's leader, I'm not convinced about the anti-semitism thing. I think that in the same way anyone who wants to discuss immigration or suggest the EU isn't wonderful is immediately branded a racist as a way of shutting down that discussion, the same technique is used against anyone that wants to criticise Israel.

It's difficult to have much sympathy though, as being historically the main players of the racism card, Labour are now being hoist by their own petard.

The unholy alliance between the far Left and militant Islam is just another manifestation of the Left's fascination with Hitler(think red Ken Livingstone) and the tendency of Jezza to bend a knee to Hezbolah. The Labour party is historically anti-Zionist but most of their supporters don’t appear to know the difference between anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism. The red mist melds the two together. Ken Livingstone’s ignorant nonsense about Hitler having been a Zionist is a good example.

A lie. Certinly a statement without any evidence to back it up.
The Israeli Government can be compared the Nazis, and that is fair comment and justifiable under free speech. To say Jews [presumably all Jews] are nazis, is an hate crime and falls foul of UK.
If Stephen Pollard, whos words you quote really saw that, he should have reported it to the police and had them arrested. Or better still publish the offending leaflets and pictures of people distributing them, and name and shame them.
Mr Pollard is editor of the Jewish Chronicle so it is amazing he has done neither action. I suspect he sees any criticism of Israel as anti Jew and anti semitic.
If there were leaflets comparing Jews to Nazis, the I condemn them and their authors are prosecuted. But without the evidence, I am sceptical that such material was at the official Labour Conference.

My comparison was not about the country states, it was about wishing countries to not exist. It does not mean you want everyone who lives there to be murdered, if you wish the country wasn't there.
