One knows commercial concerns want higher profits, less taxation; would rather a right wing party was in power looking after their friends, and would be less aggressive to such a government. Merchants should not hold sway over democratically elected representatives, but should strive to succeed by commerce within the frameworks laid out by government. But that won't stop them trying.
Risk assessment is normal practice (except in the EU apparently, where forecasting and planning is not up to coping with a member exit, so they try to compensate by mugging the leaver in order to replenish their budget).
