I can't understand why Trump hasn't been to the island and showed some compassion and empathy ?

I thought he was supposed to have visited last week, Mikey.
Shame on him.

If airports are too badly damaged, couldn't they use helicopters to get aid to them?
I think he is too busy building that wall Alba !

Trump is belatedly due to visit later this week, so some effort has been made to tidy up.
I dpubt there will be cheering in the streets on his arroval.
Scoff scoof snort snort.
It would appear so. I doubt a visit from the president would achieve much, but his decision to waive restrictions should be applauded - although of course it won't be here. Heaven forbid!
Personally I always question heads of State (of any country) being shipped into disater areas. There is no way of guaranteeing saftey (I doubt Air Force one can land there and they wont use anything else) and with the track record of asasinations in the US it would be a crazy move.

One also has to question the sincerity, just look at Corbyn on the Grenfall Tower issue, just making political capitol which is worse.
The primary concern should be helping out those affected in Puerto Rico, where apparently devastation to some parts of the island, in particular its power grid, is near-total. In that sense it's difficult to know what to make of Trump's remarkable diversion of going after one of the Island's City Mayors so viciously on Twitter, in response to a plea for further help.

By and large I think Trump has done about as good a job as any president could be expected to do in trying to release funds and lead the emergency effort. It seems, though, that he is only too happy to allow himself to be distracted, and to allow others to be. It's a shame, but even those defenders of Trump have to acknowledge that it takes two to provide such a distraction, and the media certainly wouldn't have had an excuse to report on Trump's twitter ranting if he hadn't actually ranted at San Juan's Mayor.
Trump In P.R. Disaster Disaster.
This is an island - surrounded by water. Bgi water.

Gromit, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I heard that speech.
At least we all now know what an island is.

Was most surprised to read about the Jones Act, every day is a school day, and from what I understand am not surprised that Hawaii, Alaska and PR ain't happy.
Thanks Gromit for that....like Alba, I don't know whether to laugh or cry !
