Some politicians are just unlucky. But her speech speech today couldn't have been more so. Goodness only knows how the 'comedian' managed to get in and present her with the mock P45. Security is very tight. As for the cough I suppose no-ones fault. The message, in any case, was lacklustre. Methinks a big whoops.

I think she is done for. The Tory press have had enough. // Theresa May's cough was a metaphor for her entire leadership. Her own Conservative party security team did NOTHING !!!
It was the venue security who eventually took him away .
If that is not a message I don't know what is.
The cough didn't help matters for sure. But she's never been a very good public speaker.
TBF though TM had a golden opportunity there and blew it, she could have turned that right round and had them rolling in the aisles.

So terribly sorry Albaq. Just came in. Trust I might be forgiven one day.
Some people can deliver a good speech ( irrespective of whether or not you agree with the message ) - they just have presence and are good orators - Obama for instance .

Mrs May doesn't appear to have those skills - she always appear to have stage fright and looks and sound nervous .

Perhaps she could do with some coaching
Don't they all have speech writers?
Scoop, I never meant any offence, just thought you and others may wish to have a read through some of the replies.
There are a couple of delights on that thread !

imo, she really shouldn't give speeches.
Environment Secretary Michael Gove added:

// "I thought it was a fantastic speech from a Prime Minister at the top of her game." //

It's not the content that makes a good orator it is the delivery.

Especially weak compared to the Chancellor's strong performance yesterday (which I found highly effective despite disagreeing with many of his messages).

I can't say I have much sympathy though. When May first came to office, I quite liked her. I was impressed by the fact that she was the only Tory candidate in the leadership contest last year who explicitly promised not to call an election, which looked like it would be an extremely damaging thing for the country. She also sent signals that she was going to distance herself from the more toxic and exploitative areas of Tory policymaking. But she reversed course on just about every single one.

She deserves every bit of discomfort or misfortune she gets.
I'm sure someone will be along in a few minutes to explain what a wonderful job the woman who led the Tories from the grim prospects of a majority into the sunny uplands of a minority propped up by the DUP, and who keeps ceding ground on everything that she claimed to have stood for a year ago, is actually doing an utterly wonderful job.
Theresa May's cough was a metaphor for her entire leadership

I suppose she's about to croak?

Kromovaracun, that's about my position. I thought at first she was a tolerably safe pair of hands (blithely disregarding the mess she made of the child abuse inquiry) and the best of an unimpressive bunch. She's proved the opposite of strong and stable, however.
May has zero charisma or personality. I'm no fan of Thatcher, but she certainly knew how to make a rousing speech! That said, of course, so did Hitler...
How in blazes did this turn into a Godwin's Law thread?

Godwin's Law is tripe. Just silly.
A P45 and four coughs, all in one speech.
