You know when the Tories are getting desperate, when they wheel people like Major out. For those that might be too young to remember Major, he was a Tory Leader that led the Party to its worst ever defeat at the ballot box....much forgotten now of course !

Both are has beens who are generally loathed by the public. His speaks great volumes when we get a couple of resident lefties on here praising Major. Something was very wrong.
As for why his deafeat was forgotten, he won Mickey and that is all that matters in politics no matter what Party it is.

//We are no farther forward in our Brexit negotiations, than we were the day after the Referendum last year.//
And we never will be. The EU, especially Junker and Barnier are determined to make the UK suffer one way or another to deter others from trying to flee. There will be no free trade deal but that is a good thing, cut the apron strings and go free to act as we want not dictated too by a load of johnny foreigners.

you fail to recognise that one may be more reluctant to reach agreement than the other
perhaps it was the British who failed to realise this when voting and then setting a two-year deadline? No good blaming the other side jsut because you're failing to get what you want; if Britain fails it will be Britain's fault.
I've got nothing against Major these days and I don't believe for a moment that he's loathed by the public. And he certainly knows what he's talking about when he criticises disloyal colleagues. But when he was in office he took Britain into the ERM and was still in office when Black Wednesday cost the country more than £3bn. So he wasn't a successful PM by any measure.
