Who would you like to see on the note, and why?

It doesn’t necessarily have to be feasible, but the rule is, they must be British (obv).

I personally would go for Attenborough, although it’ll never happen.

Agree with having Attenborough, would like to see it happen tho :-)
Me in silhouette. I would retain my anonymity just to satisfyingly watch the flurry of speculation in the media.

It would satisfy my sense of the absurd and I'd feel like Banksy.

4 Lady Godiva's.
both Attenborough and eccles would be ruled offside as both are currently still alive. in your quest for speculatory anonymity eccles, would you be prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice, for £20?
doesn't it have to be someone dead? (Apart from HM. She got the Canadians to redraw one of their notes because it made her look like Satan, and I wouldn't want Attenborough doing that.)

Turner sounds good to me.

jno

I think that Anthea Turner is a long shot.
Alan Turing.
Mushroom, I take on board your comment but the OP did say it didn't have to be feasible.

Just had this one suggested to me, and I think it could happen, although it might be a bit of a long shot...

Charlie Chaplin.
The Duchess of Cambridge might be a good idea.
As the wife of the future king she needs to be well known and recognised by us serfs to avoid any cap-doffing incidents.

Honestly, I think our mass media, especially the print sector need to get the finger out and have more photos and articles on this little known woman.
I wouldn't choose people. Animals probably.
why not Stan Laurel?
He was born in England wasn't he?

Who is the Duchess of Cambridge?
-- answer removed --
Chaplin, Laurel, Cary Grant, Bob Hope, Alfred Hitchcock etc, but the point with all of those was they didn't become famous until they went to Hollywood (Hitchcock a slight exception), so as far as Britain's concerned they were just unrecognised talents.
ooooh, now you're talking ygritte!!

unless we could have Jon Snow on one side and Kit Harrington (name escapes me at the moment!) on the other.
I see what you did there ygritte -

sean bean - man from Sheffield.
ned stark - man from Sheffield.
The D of C is a former amateur topless model who is currently involved in a project to single-handedly repopulate some of the quieter royal estates.

Her hobbies include smiling, looking sombre, wearing clothes from another era and waving.
Chaplin is one of my heroes. I think he would be an excellent choice, but I doubt it will happen.

Attenborough is a good one, but (monarch aside), I think it feels just a bit weird to put someone on the note who is still living. I can't put my finger on why, exactly, but it just feels wrong. So I would also prefer Turner to him purely for that reason.
interesting that there's been no publically articulated call for a more "diverse" choice of candidate......
