Thing is though that I'm sure you can find all sorts of crazy stuff like this if you look hard enough -- but it's a mistake to think that it's a widely-held opinion. Most "leftists" wouldn't give this sort of thing the time of day. And neither should anyone else.

The basic point, though, that it can't hurt to be more aware of where certain cultural practices come from still stands. Or, if that's not seen as reasonable after all, then bear in mind that moping every time someone laughs at Morris Dancers is kind of the same thing.
