Oh dear, I blame the wee un!
I don't think it's going to end well.

I've heard Catalonia want to be part of the EU, they can't if they are independent.
Surely the whole point of being independent is to have no masters but it would appear they want the EU to be their masters?
Crazy times! Be interesting to see what the consequences are.
troubles ahead !
ZM, not good for the Catalans I fear.
"I've heard Catalonia want to be part of the EU, they can't if they are independent. " - Yes I have tried to explain that about Scotland too.
Lots of parallels with Scotland. I bet wee Jimmy is watching with interest.

I believe the plan is to arrest the Catalan leader and dissolve the cabinet. Yikes.
Lucky for them that Franco isn't around anymore.
If Franco was around there wouldn't have been a Catalan Govt.
As if there isn't enough trouble in Europe as it is. If this happens it would leave the rest of Spain destitute.
can't see a parallel with Scotland Zacs, the referendum in Scotland was a legal one, the Catalonia one wasn't.

3T, I know you have, unfortunately, some of your sense fell on deaf ears :-D
The Spanish Government cannot allow this to 'go ahead' - they will have to take action .

I fear, judging by what's happened recently , there is going to be a bloody period ahead
The parallel is claiming independence and then seeing what the 'ruling' authority do.
Sadly for Spain as a whole this situation is different to UK/Scotland as Catalonia subsidises the whole of Spain so I can see a mass drift in their favour. Not good though every chance of civil war now.
Exciting times we live in, huh.
Question Author
Will the Basque region go for independence now?
Grossly irresponsible move by the Catalan govt, and one that puts both Spanish and Catalan lives in potential danger.

Reckless, self-centred power grab imo.
I'm sure this isn't pertinent, but doesn't Catalonia provide 19% of Spain's GDP?
That's quite a wodge.

Wonder what Madrid are going to do about it?

Both sides should have talked imo
have you been on the bottle , alba ?
Rioja perhaps?
