Just a sign of the times, sadly.
Unbelievable. She needs to get a life.
Surely she must have known of the story before. If she didn't like it then she should have just not read it to her son. Why go to the papers about it?

Sarah Hall should have the ability to teach her child that fairy tales and nursery rhymes aren't real and not a rule book for life.
there is an argument for not promoting necrophilia among kids, yes.

And there are links between fairy tales and real life, though sometimes subterranean. This one is about a young lady who gets a prick in her hand. In some versions, she's raped as she sleeps.

There are many variants of the tale Danny

//Italo Calvino included a variant in Italian Folktales. The cause of her sleep is an ill-advised wish by her mother. As in Pentamerone, the prince rapes her in her sleep and her children are born. He retains the element that the woman who tries to kill the children is the king's mother, not his wife, but adds that she does not want to eat them herself, but instead serves them to the king. His version came from Calabria, but he noted that all Italian versions closely followed Basile's.//

cor, every day is a school day.
If I ever have grand-children I suppose War and Peace won't even be on the bedtime reading list by then.
Now that both she and her son have been identified does she not realise the potential for difficulties?
