Well so far the police have found no casualties
who says it was a gang fight? I can't find anything on this.

Nothing's impossible, but Oxford Circus isn't usually gang territory.
It's on BBC News 24 and SKY News now
"who says it was a gang fight"

The BBC did about ten minutes ago, but now they aren't.
That's the problem with the instant news we get nowadays, it is 90% speculation and 10% fact. They are all chasing to be the first to break the news before the know enough to report it properly.

A good mate of mine has just texted to say he was turfed off a bus 100 yards from Oxford Circus station by the police and directed to wait in a shop.
thanks, davegosling. The BBC were supposed to have sworn off unsubstantiated news reports, but I suppose it's reasonable to ask eyewitnesses when you can't get a second source.
All media trying to find out what happened ...just speculation at present....seems to be around Selfridges store where disruption was....Oxford Circus underground Station and Bond Street too....reports of maybe gunshots tbc....nothing solid yet.
Oxford Circus underground Station and Bond Street tube station too are shut.....
Selfridge's is near Bond St but some way from Oxford Circus, but they're probably taking no chances.
Oxford Circus and Bond Street stations now both reopened and all trains are stopping normally.

I did add (could be lying of course) jno (you have to now on AB)

It will probably turn out to be a very minor incident but in the times we are currently living in people are easily spooked.
Might have just been a car backfiring, someone shouts "gun" and one thing leads to another.
Spokeswoman for Selfridges has said store evacuated as a precaution only and no incidents occurred in the store......shouting from people outside and loads of people running....

Both Oxford Circus and Bond St Tube stations now open and all trains stopping there. Good news there.
Not to say it never happened but it's been many a summer since I heard a car backfire.
I suppose since there are no reports of casualties (or anything at all really) I'm fairly safe in saying since it happened at a circus it could be a clown car.

Could be something along those lines ... is this now how we carry on as normal?
they're now talking about reports of a suspicious package on a train as being the cause of the problem, now dealt with. Nobody's found any evidence of shooting and no casualties.

I'd say it was all hysteria except that the few clips I've seen suggest nobody was hysterical at all, just following instructions to get out of the way.

Can't blame anyone for taking it seriously but it all looks a bit of a non-story.
Those were the days of cars backfiring lol My brother did it on purpose several times which by the way, I didn`t agree with!
He backfired his old van whilst driving up to see our local vicar. The vicar thought it highly amusing :)
