What Is The European Union For?
It can't be about 'peace' because as far as I can see no one is threatening us, but of course, they continually try to vilify Russia as if it were some sort of fearsome enemy, because they need a justification for the creation of a European Army, - can you imagine what that would be like?- what a joke.

That is today, but there are any amount of similar accounts.
Try to imagine a mish-mash of disparate armies, navies and air forces without a common language and a Brussels-based Commander in Chief in the form of a drunken Jean Claude Junker.

Well, that’s what you get for voting ‘leave’.
‘with senior officials in Brussels urging EU member states to capitalise on the “political space” left by Britain’s decision to vote to leave’

“European army? Who, when, why, where, what?”
“…surely that would never happen, A European army seems way off.”
You two need to keep up! Here’s one of many articles that set out the EU’s vision for a European Army, which they put forward last summer:

When the EU has a “vision” it usually turns into reality (often by stealth). No doubt the European Army will turn out to be the third achievement of which the euromaniacs are most proud (and look how much good the other two have done for 500m people).

I see. So it’s our fault that the mania for a Federal State with all its trappings goes unchecked? Fortunately we won’t be getting anything. Our protection will continue to come via NATO which, no doubt, the rest of Europe will refuse to fund when it sets up its own army. Well good luck to them.

Z. // Khandro posted without a link.// With so much talk of a European Army for so long, I didn't think one was required. In fact, it was one of the reasons many people including myself voted to leave the EU.
The EU has now reached a point where its sole purpose is to self-survingly survive as a power base controlling all its members, it has no real use at all, everything it does can be done just as well by different methods and mutual agreements between sovereign states.
The EU, in its present form isn't the future, I give it 10 years max.
