I would buy the food and drink, save the receipts and divi it up between the guests. The house holder eats and drinks for nowt.

Eddie, tell us where we can get a £30.00 three-course Christmas lunch please. We'll all be heading your way. The two of us are booked in to a local pub for lunch on Christmas Day for £60.00 per head. That's the norm in rural Lincolnshire.

my immediate thought was "what a cheek" however, i just realised my parents are coming over for xmas and they have offered to pay for the meat (and i accepted their generous offer)
TTT the guests invite themselves.... they present themselves as participants, not like she invites and then charges...they freely cough up for a great deal !
cheapest Christmas Day lunch around here is £85 per head...
The poor shouldn't be able to afford to drive OR spend the day with their family.
