Maybe it was the only suitable date available.
there is a reason so i read, they have broken with tradition apparently as these weddings are usually weekdays, see if i can find the link...
I've only ever known one couple who worked their wedding date around football fixtures, they were barking.
The time of the match has yet to be confirmed, but in recent years it has taken place at 17:30 GMT.
Not everyone is interested in watching a load of grown men kicking an inflated leather clad pig's bladder around a muddy field! Some of us are more interested in watching history being made.
As the wedding is taking place inside Windsor Castle, I wonder just how much will be televised?
This wedding will be far more low-key than Prince William's.

All of the noteworthy evenys of the day will probably be over by Kick-Off.....

if the footies goes on at 5.30 or so it won't clash with the Royal Wedding as its in Windsor. Whether you need two tellys is a moot point.
Should be a good afternoon to do a bit of shopping with no oiks around ...

... and no football supporters either :+)
I wish them all the best but I won’t be needing two tellies.
I did watch the Kate and William nuptials for a bit on France 24. Harking back to 1981 and Chas and Di on Tf1.
I doubt it will clash with the footie anyway, assuming it’s even going to be televised.
Can't think why there should be a problem, unless Harry and/or Megan were planning to be at Wembley that day ?
It is all to ensure the maximum possible cover and therefore revenue for the BBC . Who have the exclusive rights to televise it.This will be timed to go out at prime time on USA TV . Who will fall over themselves to pay $Millions to the BBC for access to their exclusive coverage.
The BBC also have exclusive rights to the FA cup final as well. All other networks MUST pay the BBC for coverage. Same with Wimbledon, BBC have exclusive coverage as part of their contract .
I know which one I'd far rather watch !!

Obama is not a football fan but he is THE VIP guest
I seriously doubt that Meghan and Harry are getting married at a time to suit the BBC.
I wish them both well, but it's not even a question as to what I'll be watching. Even on any other day I'd probably only watch bits of the wedding that is shown on the news until my eyes glaze over.
// an inflated leather clad pig's bladder around a muddy field //

Yep, that is about as out of date and disinterested as you can possibly be.
Not interested in either event.
