many women won't come forward for fear mainly of not being believed. His MO was simple in effect and was certainly successful. Appalling crimes, vile man.
TTT - // yes but he's suspected of over 100, probably did most of them. //

True, but we don't jail people on the basis of probability, just evidence and charges that can be proven in a court of law.

It's very easy to look at the circumstances we have been offered by the media, and jump to very obvious emotional conclusions.

What we must remember is that parole is not offered lightly, or on a whim, or for reasons of political correctness.

It is a very detailed and considered process, and, as advised, we must hope that the parole board have made a correct decision.

Time will tell.
I watched CH4 news tonight, and it was said that Worboys was given a life sentence, with a minimum of 8 years.

So, considering the dozens of women that have since accused him of rape, I am at a loss to understand why he is being let out after only serving 8 years ?

From the BBC Link :::

"The black-cab driver is believed to have carried out more than 100 rapes and sexual assaults on women in London between 2002 and 2008"

Someone can commit more than 100 rapes and still be out of prison after only 8 years ?
Hopefully, there is a method in this madness.
Talbot....... would make a change from madness in the method. Which appears to be the default setting for all of our agencies of "justice".
mikey - // Someone can commit more than 100 rapes and still be out of prison after only 8 years ? //

The '100 rapes' is speculation, he was neither jailed or paroled on speculation.

We must hope so.

The parole board have masses more information on which to base its opinions and actions than do we, advised only what the media spins to us.
Does anyone know whether the panel responsible for his release were all male? Were there any women on the panel? Were there any trans on the panel? Were they all perhaps Libz of various hues and persuasions? Do tell if you know.
Andy....I understand that since his trial, more women have come forward with accusations.

I still stand by my original point.....the sentence was life, with a minimum of 8 years.....not a maximum of 8 years.

Something else came out of the CH4 news item....his victims only got to find out about his imminent release from the media, not through any official channel.

This has all the hallmarks of a cock-up of gigantic proportions.
PIPs or whatever - Personalised independent somethings
- you are inside until you get better
are an absolute unmitigated total disaster

it started filling the prisons with prisoners without a hope of release and screwed the concept of retribution redemption and change.

The judges murmured [only] that they were probably unlawful - as it cut across the idea of punishment for a crime.

so the system lasted less than ten years - until the prison filling tap was turned off - but altho they stopped doing them [sending them in] - the ones in the system were never reviewed

i mean someone's done 15 y for theft ( longer than mairder ) because he doesnt fit the criteria of - will he steal again?
Yes apparently so he doesnt get out.

something like 75% have done twice the normal time given for their sins - the whole thing is an absolute disaster - only it took our masters and leaders ten years to realise it

in this case - - hard cases make bad law
Togo....with respect....an irrelevant point.

Andy....I wish I had as much faith in the process than you obviously do. This man is clearly a serious sexual deviant, and a persistent offender.

The Parole Board should be erring on the side of caution....it is their duty to protect the public, not the prisoner.
// "The black-cab driver is believed to have carried out more than 100 rapes//
oh stop being so gullible....
Shipman clocked up 496 - The Pontefract cases' notes were all shredded but "he looked like thunder down the ward at people" according to one witness. We knew "he was evil - evil!"said another and Dame Jarnet ( bless!) said OK increased the counter by 54.
and I am not sure if the parole board is involved
there is a special tribunal that decided if he will do it again ( different criteria )
and if they think you will - you are back in chokey, my fren'
Peter....this case has no connection or relevance to the Shipman affair.
“After a hearing about his case in November, the Parole Board decided to approve his release with "stringent" licence conditions.
He will have to report to probation staff every week and is barred from contacting any of his victims.”

Yes I’m sure his life will become a living hell at reporting to probation once a week and the “not being allowed to contact his victims”. Will be a torture worse than death...

It’s a mockery and 2 fingers at all of his victims.
It looks as if the original investigation and trial of John Worboys left a great deal to be desired :::::::

I can't find Kier Starmer's name anywhere in that link.
I think there are procedures for monitoring people who are released early and limiting - at least to some extent - their freedom of action. Here's a recent example:
