The thought of spending every waking hour believing in a 'loving God', and then fretting because you can never live up to what He is supposed to expect of you - that sounds like a seriously grim way to live.

" - me too, I have always struggled with the the paradox that anyone of even the most limited intelligence can possibly get themselves into the mental straight jacket of religion yet there are many demonstrably intelligent people who have done just that.

I saw something earlier on Huffington. He said that he always believed gay sex to be a sin, and he regrets saying it wasn't during the election.

Since he misled the electorate perhaps he should apply for the stewardship of the Chiltern Hundreds. He could then stand for re-election and see if the Good Burghers of Westmorland and Lonsdale still want him as their MP now he has declared his true position on such an important issue.

On the subject of sin, Farron's real (i.e. [i]spiritual/moralquote[) sin was lying about his true beliefs on the matter of homosexuality - unlike Rees-Mogg who was honest about his view on abortion.

The irony, of course, is that probably half of the people who voted for Sadiq Khan, who has an impeccable record in his public support for all the LGBTQwerty issues, share Farron's religious prejudices.
