Especially if the English MP happened to be a representative of the group responsible for said terrorist killings.

A couple of seasons ago, not long after the rapid decline in fortunes of the once all-conquering McLaren Formula One team had begun, their drivers, Jensen Button and Fernando Alonso (both former world champions) had spent a season and a half scrapping round with the other also-rans for for the odd point or two. The two managed to gain access to the podium on the day before one of the races (can't remember which one) and were filmed on the top step. They joked that it was the only time they were likely to get anywhere near the podium in the foreseeable future.

That desecration of a Holy Place was far more serious (and seen by far more people) than the episode in Belfast. But a few snippets from the hysterical reaction to it would have you thinking otherwise. For example:

"...a gross abuse of Belfast City Council,...";

"...had brought "shame on herself and the council";

"This video disrespects an office which all parties on the council have sought to undertake in as an inclusive a manner as possible.";

"It is an abuse...of her privilege to access the robes, the chamber and the Lord Mayor's chair...";

"gross error of judgement"

etc. etc.

A perfect example of the 'So' rule in action.

You have asked a question completely unconnected with the debate, which makes your question meaningless - and prefaced, as all such questions are, with the word 'So ...'.

Hypothesising about the actions of someone else in a different scenario does not address this question in any way.

Hopefully you can address the Question asked, and not make up your own.

I suspect chanel5 hasn't checked the link and assumes this is about that sinn fein tawt balancing a loaf of kingsmill on his head.

Even by the standards of previous political stunts in NI and elsewhere this is bizarre.

DUP representative Alderman Brian Kingston said it had been an "error of judgement" by Jolene Bunting (independent unionist)
"As members of council, we can bring people into City Hall and show them around, but there's protocols about any filming being done in City Hall, especially in the council chamber.
To bring Jayda Fransen into the chamber, to put a councillor's robe on her, to place her in the Lord Mayor's chair and have her talking about her court case - this is a gross abuse of Belfast City Council, of our City Hall, of the post of Lord Mayor and it's not something that we and the people of Belfast want to be associated with."

Ms Bunting claimed she would give the robes to anyone to try on (I might put that one to the test next time I'm a tourist at city hall!)
However she later talks about the "demonising" of Ms Fransen, so I would suggest this is not an off-the-cuff as Ms Bunting is claiming.

I think you might be singing a different song (certainly not "dozing off") if the "Sinn Fein tawt" had brought his loaf of bread into the chamber and been allowed by a Sinn Fein councillor to justify himself in the mayor's chair

I don't think the actual video was offensive. Fransen is as Fransen does - the outrage is directed at the councillor. Rightly, in my opinion, but there you go
