There have, I think, been cases where a suicide pact has had one person not going through with it....
This is very different though when you read of her behaviour both before and after Mr Birkinshaw's death.....so I don't think the sentence is long enough......I know I don't know all the facts.....but it seems very light....

he obviously wanted to end his life, sad as that is, she just urged him on and backed out, my feeling she had no intention of going with him, as i said 10 years would have been more appropriate.

Judge - yes exactly - NOT GUILTY!

Failed suicide pacts are covered by the Homicide Act 1957 if anyone is looking for a sensible comment. especially bad if a will exists in favour of the surviving partner

Sqad, he wanted to die with somebody holding his hand, not to have sex with or date.

I wonder what this woman's motivation was. Did it make her feel good about herself enabling a desperate man to do what he wanted - commit suicide; or did she get a power kick from it? Did she ever intend to commit suicide?

The internet has enabled desperate/weird/dangerous people to hook up with each other.
