Yes he was very foolish and he could have killed others, but he killed his own daughter a thing he will have to live with for the rest of his life, isn't that bad enough?
Surely banning him from driving for the rest of his life, would have been a more appropriate sentence?

I understand your view, what I don't get is why you think the law is broken?
Did you simply mean he had broken the law, and I am reading too much into your post?
If so, apologies - crossed wires are the price we sometimes pay for written comunciation, where meanings can be misunderstood.

complicated decision. The judge said the dangerous bit was overtaking on the wrong side. After that, he was going too fast, tried to brake but hit the accelerator by mistake.
On that basis, I think the sentence is probably about right, but I wouldn't have been outraged if it had been shorter. If he'd deliberately gone through the lights it would have been worse.
