Emmie....I am not sure it ever really went away. The Jews are still seen as legitimate targets for hate. That is why Holocaust denial is still a crime in so many countries.
The Jewish section of our local Council-owned Cemetery has had to have a very stout fence and gates fitted, because of attacks.
Its sad but true that some people will always need to find someone to be a scapegoat when things go wrong.
