Everyone I know has nothing but praise for the NHS and rightly so.
Due to it's enormous size it's an easy target for those who would bring attention to themselves, ie politicians.
The size is mind boggling: take all three armed services, the MOD that runs them, all the Police and prison services, the four other main cultural icons, Tesco,Sainsbury,Asda,Waitrose....and you're still half a million employees behind the NHS. We use just the hospital A&E departments 90 million times a year!
Because of its size and spread it accepted by those who know as being easily the best when something serious needs attention quickly - other countries have nothing like the density of expertise.

Good. Travel uninsured, you take your chances. Why should anyone else foot your bill? Perhaps if the NHS followed similar procedures it might be rather more buoyant than it is.
Mikey, //The support that that Trump gets here on AN never ceases to amaze me......here he is, together with Farage, running down our NHS, and instead of some people manning barricades and defending us, they side with Trump......TTT is fond of talking about traitors and yet here is a cast iron example of such.//
No one is running the NHS down – and no one is a traitor so stop insulting people. The simple fact is there is no doubt that NHS resources are not boundless so stop being so utterly disingenuous. When your hatred for Trump (whose administration has no effect on you whatsoever) takes precedence over your usual political spin, which it very clearly does, even you should recognise that your problem doesn’t lie with Trump – it lies with you.

That makes me laugh. Do you know who spearheaded and achieved the "degrees for all nurses" thing? The RCN. They brought in an American called Beverley Malone to be General Sec of the RCN and tasked her with raising the profile and status of nursing. She is a clever woman and worked at the highest level in government to achieve this. In doing it she closed out promotion and development opportunities for other professions and made the nursing profession top heavy and expensive. I was there working in the NHS and saw it happen. Well done RCN.
