Is there anybody that is even slightly surprised by this ?

I couldn't have named the current UKIP leader anyway!

And in any case it wasn’t UKIP who ‘achieved’ Brexit. Political parties achieve things by being elected to power and doing things. UKIP have never been remotely close to power. They have seen their main ambition close to being achieved its true and by that token they ought to at least be the happiest party if nothing else, but they appear to be anything but :-)
yes TCL like Dave I though remain would win I've made no secret of that or my delight that the country saw sense. Ich Dave would not have risked a vote just to deal with Tory divisions, they've been split on Europe forever. UKIP's 12.6% vote in 2015 scared him into trying to put the issue to bed, as we know, that back fired on him.
There used to be a real dive of a Pub at the end of Wind Street, here in Swansea, called The Borough Arms. The place was irredeemably dirty, and stank, the glasses were hardly ever cleaned, the beer was 'orrible, and it attracted the worst type of clientele.
If the Police were trying to find someone, The Borough was the first place they looked. My Dad told me never to darken its door, but I did, just the once and everything I had ever heard about it was true.
Up the road, there was a much better Pub, The Adelphie, which was owned by my Dads Best Man. I asked him once why the Feds ever allowed the Borough to exist and why didn't they close it down.
He looked horrified at the prospect of the Borough closing and when I asked him why, he said that he was afraid that all those reprobates that hung out down the road at The Borough would end up in his Pub !
That is essentially the role that UKIP fills....its a place that the real loony-tunes and racists can go and hide. All the other proper political Party's can breath a sigh of relief.

UKIP persist in torpedoing whatever lingering credibility they may cling to by showing their inability to keep a leader in place for longer than five minutes.
The current incumbent hangs grimly on to a powerless position despite being shown to have the personal morals of an ally-cat and the political savvy of a paper-clip.
They should quit while they are behind.

I drank in the Boroughs. Nice lively place full of gypsies and Irish lads.
And I vote UKIP. Although I must admit, they need to sort themselves out.
Call me Dave was trying to be clever. Promised a referendum if the Tories won. But, if you remember, the best result they could hope for at that time was another coalition with the Liberals. And, of course the Liberals would have vetoed it.
I bet when it dawned on him they had an outright victory and the consequences that would bring he felt a bit queasy.
