I applaud the principle but I hope they have some serious fire proofing planned.

what an appalling idea, even if 10 percent is made of steel, can't see this as being right at all, fire risk i'll say.

well your kitchens are pretty hand with the old do me but it still seems a bit dodgy to me.
What could possibly go wrong?

Although on the face of it the idea seems a bit odd, if built right there is probably no reason why it should not be fine. There are things used in building that are far more combustible than wood. There is not enough detail in here to make a call really.

How often will they have to creosote the wood ?
I can't be the only one to see the drawbacks of constructing it from 100% potty.

There is little doubt it will be structurally sound and being in an earthquake area it is a good choice.

Looking around the architect forums it seems the questions are more about is the answer to City living in tower blocks rather than any structural or fire risk.
They should be fine as long as they don’t clad the thing in plastic.
